Bye Bye Ba!

Jacob loved his Ba (his paci) - he would have that thing 24/7 if I let him. But all good things must come to an end!

When Sarah gave up her paci, she decided she was going to send them to the baby Meerkats at the zoo. Which didn't surprise me..they are her favorite animal at the zoo.

We decided that on Halloween he needed to give it up. We asked him everyday leading up to Halloween what was going to happen. He would say "Ba goes to baby meerkats!" He knew that only big boys can go trick or treating...and big boys don't use a Ba!

So, after trick or treating that night-

He enjoyed it one last time

Then it was time to pack it up and send it off!

He was quite proud of himself

And placed it on the front step so the mailman could take to the zoo!

The transition was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The second night was rough, but we made it.

The only problem now is that everytime we see the Meerkats at the zoo, Jacob is looking to see which baby meerkat has his Ba!!

Halloween 2010

This year, Sarah wanted to be Snow White..and SURPRISE...Jacob wanted to be a Wiggle!

As long as the kid's have been able to Trick or Treat, we've been doing Halloween with the McMichael Family.

This year the Love Family joined us. This was the best group shot we could get...although Abby's missing.

We load up the wagons (with wine..I mean with kids) and we're off

The kids visit lots of houses and get loads of candy! Some they run up to willingly

Other times they needed a little help because of the scary witches!!

Everyone really enjoys themselves :-)

Light the Night Walk - 2010

Leukemia took my dad from me.

My Dad was diagnosed in 2006 with a rare blood disorder called Myleodysplastic Syndrome (also known as Pre-Leukemia). Since there is no cure for this disease, we had to wait until it turned into Leukemia before he could be treated. Less than one year after he was diagnosed, he passed away.

Mom and I found the Light the Night Walk the year after dad passed away. The walk takes place at dusk and everyone carries illuminated balloons. Red represents supporters, White represents survivors, and Gold represents lost loved ones.

This year I was not only walking in memory of my dad. One of my very dear friends 4.5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Pre B AL Leukemia in August. Have I mentioned that I hate cancer!!!
We love participating in the walk and raising awareness and money for the Leukemia society, but it's very emotional for us. This year, mom and I didn't walk it alone this year. I have an amazing group of friends that walked with us.

Oh, and our team raised $745!!

A trip to the Pumpkin Patch

How many pictures does it take to get the perfect picture in the pumpkins....obviously more than we took! But we tried...

Sarah and Jacob picked out our new Halloween yard art

We did come home with new yard art, two perfect pumpkins, a few good pictures, and lots of great memories!

Zoo Boo!

Last year we went to the Zoo Boo for the first time with the McMichael Family. The kids enjoyed it so much, we decided it was a must from now on!

We finally picked a date that worked around everyone's busy schedule (except that Scott wasn't there because he was participating in a triathlon). The kids put on their costumes and off we went.

Our first stop had to be a picture in front of the huge candy corn!

And it wouldn't be a trip to the zoo without seeing the Meerkats

Sarah's Field Trip

When Sarah began school this year, we were told they would have one field trip this year - to the Pumpkin Patch! I knew I definitely didn't want to miss this, so I signed up to be a chaperon.

The kid's were so excited to be going on a big school bus. We got all 22 kids strapped into their seats and off we went. The bus was so full of giggles and screams. The joy on the kids faces while on that bus ride was priceless.

They waited patiently holding hands while everyone got off the bus.

Once through the gates, it was a mad dash to the pumpkins!

Some pictures with the Ghost, Pumpkins, and Witch!

Then a hayride!

We listened to the story about the history of the farm

Then played on the playground

Then a ride on the train

With my best friends and my favorite teacher!

And last but not least - A PUMPKIN!!!
